Exhibition by Shingirai Matemera at the Montreux Art Gallery 2022.
We are delighted to be able to enable the talented Zimbabwean artist, Shingi Matemera, to exhibit in the 18th edition of Montreux Art Gallery (MAG). The exhibition will take place in Montreux from November 9 to 13, 2022.
Shingi Matemera was born in Zimbabwe on June 1, 1982. He is a very talented abstract artist who started woodcarving at the age of 6 in the Tengenenge Gallery in Guruve. His father Bernard Matemera, one of the pioneers of Shona art, lived there. Shingirai received his main inspiration from his work in Tengenenge. In contrast to his father's works, many of his figures are abstract and have his unmistakable style. He is able to work with various media, but has mainly specialized in serpentine.
