Biography
Peter Kananji was born in Rusape in 1978. Even as a boy, he sculpted people, animals, and pots out of clay. In 1990, he began working in stone at the Chapungu Sculpture Park in Harare, under the guidance of sculptor Joe Mutasa. In 1998, he moved to the Ambassador Sculpture Gallery, where he worked with Gerald Takawira and studied under Jim Sephani and Amos Supini.
His works have been exhibited in the United States, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Africa, and Australia; in Zimbabwe, they have been shown at the National Gallery and Chapungu Sculpture Park, among other venues.
