Lovemore Bonjisi

Lovemore Bonjisi was born in 1985 into a well-known family of sculptors in Zimbabwe. Because he did not have a birth certificate, he was not allowed to attend high school, a common problem in Zimbabwe. At the age of twelve, he therefore began learning the craft from his brother Lameck, who died in 2003.

In his works, he combines elements of Shona culture with contemporary forms. His works have been exhibited in galleries in Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, the United States, and Korea, and many are part of private collections around the world.
